Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises: The UK National Contact Point

BritCham Costa Rica, together with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the British Embassy, held the event ‘Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises: The UK National Contact Point’ with Mr. Danish Chopra, UK’s National Contact Point. Members of the public and private sectors attended the evento to not only understand important aspect of the OECD, but also to understand what this membership would mean for Costa Rica.

Keys for Successful Public-Private Partnerships – What Does Costa Rica Need to Achieve this Model?

This executive breakfast was the first event organized by BritCham’s Public-Private Partnerships and Infrastructure Committee as its members believe that the public and private sector understanding of the subject is vital. The event has as special guest Mr. Javier Encinas, a British government expert who is Project Director of Infrastructure UK of Her Majesty’s Treasury with extensive experience working with foreign governments in the implementation of policies, public-private partnerships programs and projects . As part of the discussion panel other experts were Mr. José Humberto Zuniga, Manager of the Private Initiative Program of the Consejo Nacional de Concesiones, Mr. Federico Villalobos, expert on Public Private Partnership, Mr. Luis Guillermo Loria, Coordinator of the Transport Infrastructure Program from Lanamme and Mr. Flemming Falkentoft, Legal and Sustainability Manager of APM Terminals.

I BritCham Tennis Tournament – Mini Wimbledon

First tennis tournament organized by BritCham at the Costa Rica Country Club. Part of the proceeds will serve as tennis scholarships for underprivileged children as part of the Country Club’s CSR program which is managed by the Tennis School.

Executive Breakfast ‘Electrical Cost and Its Implications for the Country’s Economic Development – Current Situation and Medium and Long-Term Outlooks’ with presentations by Juan Manuel Quesada, Superintendent of Energy for ARESEP; Salvador López, Director of the National Centre for Energy Control (CENCE) and Mario Alvarado, Executive Director of the Costa Rican Association of Power Producers (ACOPE).

General Assembly

BritCham’s First General Assembly held at the British Residence. During the Assembly, the President, Treasurer and Monitoring Member’s reports were presented and the election for the new Board of Directors was held.

FEMETROM Event: Energy and Local Development Seminar

Event in collaboration with the British Embassy and UKTI on ‘Smart Cities and Sustainable Energy Development’ organized by FEMETROM (Federation of Metropolitan Municipalities). The aim of the forum was to discuss the management tools that municipalities could use for sustainable energy development. and give British companies the opportunity to present their innovative products and how they can help towards a better municipal management.

European Union-Central America Association Agreement

Event organized by the European Embassies and Chambers of Commerce, along with the European Union Delegation to inform the Costa Rican business sector about what the agreement encompasses and how they can benefit from it.

Event with Luis Guillermo Solís

Lunch organized by BritCham with Presidential Candidate Luis Guillermo Solís to discuss with the Costa Rican private sector illegal trade, transparency, free zones, fiscal plan and infrastructure.

Tackling Contraband and Counterfeit Trade In Central America

Expert’s workshop held in Costa Rica organized by UKTI. Brit Cham Costa Rica gave a presentation on the illicit trade of tobacco, alcohol and pharmaceutical products.
